Thinking about the Little Rock Nine

Looking at the pictures between pages 132-133 of Little Rock Central High School and Elizabeth Eckford make me think about how difficult it must have been to have been part of the Little Rock Nine. Look at the pictures on these pages. What stands out for you? Why? Are there any potential bystanders? upstanders? victims? perpetrators?

Use your knowledge of the Civil Rights Movement from your article, learning about Emmitt Till, and listening to some of the music that relates to the movement to make one connection with a pciture that you see on pages 132-133. Be sure to follow the new blog expectations for full credit.

  2. the ladies were yelling at her cause she was black and they were black so the whites and the blacks don't get along so thats why the white people were yelling at her cause she was black. Elizabeth Eckford was a victim because she was in the mob on the worng subject and the worng doing.

  3. to me in my opionthe whites are the bystandes and and perpetrator because they are the ones who are doing the wrong doing also they are the one who are watching the people do wrong.
the blacks are the ones who are the victim becaus the whites are treating the blacks wrong.the white people have the power over the blacks.the blacks fell like they dont have no power.the whites think that the blacks are perpetrators but when really it the whites.........

  4. Looking at the pictures of the The Little Rock Central High made me realize that many people were were Victims of Perpetrators. For example the picture Of Elizabeth being screamed at, but still keeping her head up. Showed me that she didnt care what the white people thought of her. In some of the pictures they were also Some bystanders who just stood their and not tried to stop all the insults instead they just stood their watched. Their were also Upstanders which were the soldiers protecting them from any harm and riots towards Melba and her friends.

what stands out to me is the soldiers because they were just there and it was like the only thing that was actually interesting because it was alot of them.
i think that the soldiers were upstanders because they actually did something they weren't just standing there like dummys.

  6. i think the picture is trying to say that . a african american dead and being pulled away by white officers. that are hopefully going to burry the body or dump it somewhere

  7. Well the thing that stands out is the soldiers how they had to get involved in the little rock nine going to Central High. Plus in one picture there is a girl getting screamed at an I think she is a victim because there is a group of girls that are perpetrators. Plus I think that the little rock nine are upstanders because they are going to an all white school and they are still going even though they treat them badly.

  8. I think that they were up standers because the African Americans were being tees and being bully. And just because the blacks are going to an all white school and they even got soldiers to guard just because blacks are going to this all white school. And even people from Indiana and Missippi and other states are coming to protest at CENTRAL HIGH. Because they don’t want the blacks to go to central high because they think they don’t have the rights to go to central high. And those pictures show how much they don’t want the blacks to go to central high because they have soldiers guarding the high school and no one has that.

What stands for me is that i think that the white people are the perpetrators because they were the ones that were doing the action. I think that is racism because when you look at it,its like one black (african american) and all white people attacking one african american.

  10. what stands out to me is when Melba saw Elizabeth Eckford being screamed at told stuff by white girls and she just kept walking not turning back adn beingg brave!
The upstanders are the soldiers who helped them and protected them so nothing would happen................ THere's alot of victims and elizabeth eckford was one of them/. the perpetrators were the whit people moccking and botherng the black people`

  11. I believe that it was hard to be one of the little Rock Nine because you would get beat up n get yelled at when you went to Central High with all white people. The picture that stand out to me the most was the pictue when the black girl is walking to Central High and there are people that are white behind her that are yelling that her. I think that the black girl is the victims because there are people that are behind her yelling at her. There are potential bystanders because some people that arein the picture are just look that the other whit people yelling that the black girl. There are many peretrators because the people that are yelling that ther black girl are very negative about having a black girl in the school. Finally this shows how the white people dose not enjoy having black people in there schools also on sharing anything because of how different they look.

What stands out the most in the pictures are the little rock nine because in the pictures it looks like they’re getting a lot of attention but in a bad way because the white people are shouting are shouting at them. The reason why it stands out for me is because in every picture that they are near Central High white people are surrounding them yelling at them. The upstanders are the men of the 101st Airborne who protected the little nine rock and the victims are the little nine rock because they are the ones getting insulted and not getting they’re rights. The perpetrators are the white people doing bad to the black.

Well, once I saw the picture of Elizabeth Erkford being confronted by this angry mob of white people, I immediately pointed out the woman who was shouting at Elizabeth while she was walking to Central High, all by herself. I also see how Elizabeth’s facial appearance shows how she only ignores the mob that is approaching her. I see three personal actions being demonstrated by people here in the picture. I see 3 actions in the picture; a victim, perpetrators, and bystanders. First of all, the victim here in the picture is obviously Elizabeth Eckford, without a doubt. She is being harassed by a bunch of whites while she; 1. Is only walking to school like any usual teenager should be doing, 2. Did she do anything to deserve to be treated this way by whites? Remember Emmitt Till and his uncle, the uncle was a strong victim to the loss of his own nephew, whom I think he loved like a son, just because of something so small as to giving a white woman a complement. Think of how these 2 are alike, even though Elizabeth did not die, it sure felt like she was going to. Second of all, the bystanders I believe to see in this photograph are indeed the white angry mob. All of these whites would be considered also perpetrators aside to bystanders, but they are more bystanders than perpetrators since, in the picture, they appear to do nothing, but stand around. That is how they are bystanders, and mostly perpetrator, for not only not defending or standing up for Elizabeth, but for also just standing around while that one woman who was screaming did all the work. And now, the finally, last but not least, the perpetrator. The perpetrator who appears in this photograph is without a doubt, the woman who stands out from the rest, the woman who is violently screaming at Elizabeth while the rest watch. This woman is strongly the perpetrator because she was the only one who acted against Elizabeth at the time. She should be ashamed of herself because of what she did, all Elizabeth did was walk to school, what did she do to deserve such hatred that day, just because she’s African American? Think wisely upon this, comment, how or what did she do to be hated that day? …and that was my response, long, and informal.

  14. In the pictures that i saw i noticed that there was many victims. The vicyims were all black people and the white people were the perpetrators. In one of the pictures i saw some white soldiers defending the black people and i think they are the upstanders. The first song i heard as like dpressing and i think it goes with the pictures were people are being mistreated. The othe song kind of was better because it like motivatted the blacks to fight for what they wanted to accomplish.I think those songs really relate to the book we are reading.

  15. In the photos is see many perpetrators. It seems many to all the whites in Little Rock Nine seem to want to keep blacks from that High School. The are not only standing out of the school hoping to stop the blacks from entering but are also doing protest and many other things. Kind of like parents that want their kids to study so they take away what their child likes in hopes he/she will meet demands and will study to get what she/he likes. Second I see up-standers. The soldiers seem to be on complete alert. They are determined to keep the black students safe. They probably know that the whites will be doing every thing to get passed them. This is what I saw.

  16. By looking at the pictures on the book what stands out to me is that in one picture that theres lots of white persons and one black person and they look like if they were screaming at her. i think all those people look like bystanders because they all look like they didn't want her there. One person looks like if she was screaming and the people didn't do any thing so they are bystanders for not doing anything about it.

  17. After viewing the picture in the book Warriors dont cry what stand out the most from the pictures to me was when Elizabeth Eckford was walking in the streets and there was white people screaming at her. It seems that you couldn't even walk down the street with out people telling them something or doing something to you.
I think there were Bystanders because in the picture you can actually see soliders not doing anything. The soldiers are just looking at the poor teen getting screamed at by white people and for no reason! Just beacuse she is African American.

All of the pictures made me think that she would of felt sad but she dirent let them get to her. She made it, she even passed by the whole crowed evwen if they were skreami9ng to her. In the pictures it shows how she just ignore the white people skreaming at her & she continue to walk. Inj one other picture she came out in a class , that made me think that she made ith.

What stands out for me is the picture of Elizabeth Eckford and the mob. This stands out because this shows her calmly walking next to a mob and the mob looks ready to kill her. It is kinda funny though because there is a woman behind Elizabeth making an ugly screaming face that makes you want to laugh. The potential bystander is Melba. It is Melba because she said all she did was watch this event. It doesn't really seem like there are any upstanders in this pictures. The victim is Elizabeth because the mob wants to harm her. The perpetrators are the people in the mob. I can connect this picture to the song "We shall over come." I can connect this picture to the song because some of the southerners don't want "The Little Rock Nine" to enter the school, but they try to go anyway to prove they are as good as anyone else.

  20. What stands out at me is how so many people are screaming in the pictures.
Their is also alot os soldiers.
Their are not really any potential bystanders because almost everone is screaming at the little Rock Nine students.

  21. The first picture with the caption (“I had long dreamed of entering central high, I could not have imagined what that privilege could of cost me.”) I think that the people stand in front of the school are up standers because there fighting on what they believe in etc. But the soldiers that are just walking away are bystanders because there not doing nothing about it etc. The picture that the caption said (“on the day I watched Elisabeth eckford being brave in the face of the mob, I felt both helpless and vulnerable.”) I think these picture there is by standers because a white lady is screaming to the black lady and the white people are doing nothing about it etc. I think if I was the people that were not doing nothing I think I would of done nothing because I would not want to get screamed at to or maybe even killed if I was black and I spook up etc. But then again I would do something to fight for my civil rights and get treated rite I would not even care if I died for it at least I tried. The other picture I am going to talk about is the one with these caption(“I would always be grateful to the man of the 101st airborne who did there personal best to protect use from attack .”)I think that the soldiers are up standers because they are trying to help protect the blacks as much as they can from attacks. There are many up standers and by standers and examples are in these pictures.

  22. The picture that stands out for me was the picture of Elizabeth Eckford. This picture stood out to me because there is everything in this picture, a victim, bystanders, and perpetrators. Elizabeth is the clear victim in the picture, she walks along bravely as a mob yells and screams at her. There are most likely bystanders in the picture, since in almost every crowd, there is always someone who doesn’t approve of what is going on. There is probably bystanders who don’t approve of what’s happening but the intimation of the large crowd makes them just sit back and watch, and don’t say a word. The two women in the front just look at Elizabeth and don’t say a word. It looks like they’re just walking along and try not to get involved in anything. There are also perpetrators in the picture and plenty of them. For example the woman yelling is a clear example of a perpetrator. The woman behind Elizabeth appears to be laughing at was is going on, she could be taking part of what is happening to Elizabeth. Since there were bystanders, perpetrators, and a victim in this picture, it clearing stood out for me.

  23. What stands out to me the most are the soldiers. The soldiers are mostly in every page. It seems like the soldiers are standing there to make sure that no one gets hurt or tries to hurt someone. The soldiers were there to protect the few black students that got accepted to Central High (Warriors Don’t Cry). It seems like the soldiers are standing there to make sure that no one gets hurt or tries to hurt someone. In one page it quotes, “I will always be grateful to the soldiers that tried to protect us with their lives” this shows why the soldiers were there (Warriors Don’t Cry). I think that there are victims, up standers, and perpetrators in the pictures. I think that the up standers are the soldiers that have to defend the black people, that could get hurt by some of the white people. The bystanders might be the people just watching the chaos happen between the black and the white people. The victims are the black people that have to be defended by soldiers. I believe that the soldiers are the ones that stand out the most in the pictures and that the victims were the black people, the up standers were the soldiers protecting the black people, and the bystanders are the people watching the chaos between blacks and whites.

  24. What stand out of the pictures in the book was that in most pictures there are many bystanders and perpetrators around the victims. Most of the pictures show poeple around the victims screaming at them and looking at them. Some just stand there without doing anything and that makes them bystanders while the other people that scream at them are the perpertrators.I think that some- people these days actually do the same thing like before. There was this guy that was looking with anger at Mmelba and that shows how that guy was the perpertrator. The soldiers are upstanders becuase they are protecting the blacks from the white people and that shows that they are helping them and that makes them an upstander.

  26. I think that the picture that stood out for me the most was the one with Elizabeth Eckford was facing the mob. Where there were a bunch of white students who were like yelling at her and they looked angry. She felt helples and vulnerable. she didn't even look like she was crying she was just serious. Thats what surprized me the most because most people were like really hurt but she didn't give them the satisfaction of seeing her cry.I think the bystanders were the soldiers that were there. They were there to protect them from getting hurt but they didn't say anything about the names they were calling them. The upstanders were the soldiers too because even though they didn't do anything about the name calling they did protect them from the violence. The victims were the 9 students that had to take all the name calling and violence that was there because they weren't wanted.

  27. based on the pictures i see i think the picks show mostly all the words prepetrator, bystander, victim, and upstander.i think the prepetrato in these pics is the is the one who was mayor in those days because like in the sit-ins since the mayor didnt prevent this the people thought they were doing good so they kept on doing it but until in the sit-ins the mayor sayed YES I THINK IT WASNT FAIR or something like that the people stopped doing it like followers thats what they were followers.so my guess is that the mayor in those days is the prepetrator because he knew it was going on and did nothing to stop it and if he stepped up and sayed something about it they might have stopped it.The bystanders in the pictures are the guards and other people watching because they didnt do anything to stop it they thought since it wasnt them they dont care but guess wat their suyppoes to care.the victom in this pics are all these swseet faces in all the pics because they were the one who were getting hurt.the upstander in this pics to me is nobody because i dont see nobody trying to stand up for those people getting hurt or maybe the people who atleast tried to help are the upstanders even though they didnt succed they tried dont u thing my BAR?:)<3

what stands out are the soldiers there to protect the colored students goiong to an all white school. im guessing that the colored students and the soldiers are upstanders because blacks are trying to get their right wile soldiers are trying to safely get them to school. the perpetraitors are the mobs of mothers ,children ,and fathers trying to protest against theyre rights yelling harsh things to these students

The things that stand out for me the most are the guards. They stand out to me because in most pictures they look very still. It looks like if in most pictures the people are either scared or sadd. I think that all the people in the pictures were victims because they couldn't do anything to help themselves. I feel that the bystanders were the guards because they could've tried to make them feel better. But im guessing that they were also scared and that's why they just did their jobb. I feel badd for those people because they shouldn't have been treated that way.. even if they deserved it.. I think everybody should have the same EQUAL rights. Nobody should have more than others.

  33. In the pictures several things stand out for me. I noticed right away that there were soldiers infront of the school. I can't really tell if the soldiers are there to protect the Little Rock 9 from the white kids, or the white kids from the Little Rock 9. During this time everyone thought they had to be protect but no one should have to be.The bystanders in the picture have to be the other students because, they know whats going on around them and since they are the future if they would give other people a chance at equality well the future would have been brighter for everyone. The victims are the Little Rock 9. They can't even learn properly without having to fear that something might and could happen to them. They are the ones losing out in all of this.

  35. The picture that stand out for me is the one on page 88 were Elizabeth Eckford is around all the white community . This picture is important because this shows how bad all the whites wanted black out of their community . There are many bystanders in this picture which are all the whites , they are bystanders because they are watching Elizabeth being mistreated and they just stand around and do nothing . The vitcim is Elizabeth because she is the one that is going trough all the pain and racism becase she is black and the white community doesn't want her to attend Central High just because she is black .

Elizabeth Ecford is a upstander because she don't care if she is black or white she went in on a middle of the mob when white people are yelling at her from the back and she don't care. That is also rascism beacuse the white people don't like black people so white and black dont get along with eachother

In a picture on page 88, the bystanders are the people standing around, watching people get screamed at. The victim is the young black woman being screamed at. The perpetrator is the woman yelling, at the black lady. The black lady (victim) is calm, even though she is being treated like she is something horrible. This stood out to me, because its the only picture that really shows how the blacks were treated poorly.

    ReplyDelete
  38. What stands out for me the most is how rude white people would be against all the black people attending Central High School. The reason why it stands out is, because they would be yelling at them and making rude comments about them. An example of a potential bystander are the men of the 101st Airborne, the reason why is because they kind of stood there to protect them but at the same time they didn't. Upstanders are the black students who had the guts to go to Central High School. The victims are still the black students and the rest of the black people because they all were treated differently by all the whites. The perpetrators are all the white people who mistreated all the black people.

I feel that the photos were intresting because i like that one picture about when the one black girl was standing their in a crowed of whites & how they look all angry like she wasen't ment their. Also the one were the men were standing their protecting the balcks when they got out of school and everyone judged them & yelling at them. I think they were upstanders because they fought for what they wanted they didn't let the signs get to them out and don't let them go anywere. I feel that they were vitims also because they were judged just basecly by their color like what wrong with themm. I feel that, they was really harsh of the whites thinking their superior and everything. I am actually happy that the Civil Rights were passed because then maybe to this day blacks would be treated diffrently.

  44. I think the up standers are melba and her friends that are studying because the are fighting segregation by integrating into central high school. They are also the victims because they are always threaten with losing their families. The potential perpetrators are the white people yelling at the African Americans going to central because instead of helping them they trying to stop them from going. The by standers are the people in the picture that are not doing nothing to help integration in central. One picture is the picture of melba working studying with her friends and this makes me remember of the Rosa parks, Martin Luther King Jr. and Vernon Johns working together to stop segregation on buses. They have to in order to stop segregation on buses and stop segregation in schools.

The picture that stands out the most for me is when elizabeth is walking through all those white people and being brave. The bystanders were lois, melba, and the uniformed men with the weapons because as elizabeth was walking she was getting screamed at and melba, lois, and the guards were just staring elizabeth and not even helping her. The victims were elizabeth, lois, and melba because they being yelled at, and being hit plus they were being threaten to being hangged. The perpetrators were the white people because they were hitting people and threatening the blacks.

What stands out for me in these pictures is the picture of Elizabeth Eckford. This picture stands out to me because she looks brave and she tries to ignore the mob behind her even if she is being taunted and hated by these whites when she was doing nothing wrong but integrate into their school. When I see this picture I can imagine how the people in this picture must feel now. They should feel ashamed because we all have equal rights and nobody deserves to e treated that way for doing nothing. The bystanders in these pictures are the National guard. They are bystanders because they are not saying what the other students are saying to the blacks and they are not physically trying to do something to them but in the picture you can see that they are not stopping all the white kids shouting in front of the building so they are not standing up for them. The upstanders in these pictures are the men of the 101st Airborne for being by them all the time and helping them and the members of the NAACP because this became possible because of them. The victims in these pictures are the Little Rock 9 because they were being bullied every single day in Central High school and the perpetrators are all the white kids in central high bullying and taunting them. I believe these pictures show a lot and how people would treat others like they are not human and even if we think this is over and we just look back at it, we know somehow it is still happening today.

  47. Looking at the pictures of Little Rock 9 what stands out to me is how there were so many guards at this high school yet they would not do anything to stop any violence even though they would try their best. The pictures of Elizabeth Eckford made her to be not only a victim, but an upstander. In one picture you can see her being surrounded by a mob of angry whites. She seem like a upstander in that some photo too because she is not backing away she just continues on. All nine of these students are upstanders because they are going to a place where their fellow students dare not to go. They are willing to face the troubles others didn't wish to be apart of. The last picture of all the Little Rock Nine students is like the song We Shall Overcome. This reminds me of this song because in the song it talks about how they will get all these people together and find a way to make a difference in the way things are. These students are banding together and trying to make a difference about the segregation of schools and being the first blacks to enter Central High since it was an all whites school. Even though people dropped out they still still stood together and went to Central High.

  48. What stands out for me is when the African American young girl is being brave in the face of the mob.And a white women in the background is screaming at the African American girl. This picture stood out for me because of shes the only black women their and the rest are white.Their aren't any upstanders. They all were victims! For screaming and looking at the african gil very differently. Many Bystanders all the white people in the background didnt stand up for this poor african girl. The perpetrator is the white women screaming at the Victim.

  49. What stands out to me is the girl with glasses. For one she seems like a normal person coming to school to learn and get an experience of learning with the whites. Yet in the background we see the whites angry shouting at her. This was something I found surprising on how they didn't want to end segregation. The girl in the picture as I see seems to be a victim. While the people behind look like perpetrators as the are annoying her. The bystanders are the soldiers as they see her yet do nothing to stop the crowed from bothering her. And their is no up-standers in the pictures which shocks me as the military were sent to help the blacks out. In the end many things stand out to me which I found terrible the people treating her terribly, the soldiers doing nothing, and the innocent girl.

From the picttures I saw in the book I noticed many things. Also I noticed alot of people. What stood out for me was all the security there was just so that acouple of kids could go to school safely. Another thing that stood out was all the white people just doing what a human should not do. What? Do they not get that african americans are also good enough for that school. There are some bystanders just watching whats going on and not doing anything. The soldiers were upstanders because thhey knew it was wrong so they protected the students. The victims were the african american kids going to school getting yelled at everyday. The perpetrators are the white people screaming at the kids amd threatning them.

They wacthed and proceeded to glace without doing anything. I think the girl is an upstander just for the simple fact that she had heart, and she was'nt afraid that maybe it was mature not to react on how the mob crew approach her but, she handled it very well.I think that most of us all know that by yes your gonna find more bystanders than upstanders understanding that most people are fearful of there lives. But, by means im not and just because one has her opinion doesnt mean she has to be treated a certain wat POINT...BLANK...PERIOD

  52. What stands out for me is that these white people are very cruel to the Littel Rock Nine. One day a girl called Elizabeth Eckford wallked to school and people were shouting names at her. I thought instead people screming at the 9 students people should scream at the white people.I dont really think there were any upstanders, but there were alot of bystanders.Instead of people just standing around doing nothing they should of stood up for that girl.I know i would.

what stands out for me is all the pictures because in all the pictures there is ether a bystander, up stander, victim, and perpetrators. in many of the pictures the blacks were the victims and some were the up standers and some blacks were also bystanders because they didn't want to get hurt i think many of the perpetrators were the white people in many of the pictures

Just beacuse she is African American. and thats what i think ..

  55. From the pictures I saw in the book I noticed many things. what stood out for me is all the securities their was a couple of kid that could go to schools. also what stand out for me is that they are taking a man and a lady. The soldiers were up-standers because they knew it was wrong so they protected the students. The victims were the African American kids going to school getting yelled at everyday.this is what i think.

  56. From all the pictures the picture that stands out for me was the picture of Elizabeth Eckford. This picture has a victim, bystanders, and perpetrators. Elizabeth is the victim in the picture because she walks along bravely as a mob yells and screams at her. In the picture there are most likely bystanders since in almost every crowd. There is probably bystanders who don’t approve of what’s happening but the intimation of the large crowd makes them just sit back and watch, and don’t say anything. There are also perpetrators in the picture and plenty of them. The woman behind Elizabeth appears to be laughing at was is going on, she could be taking part of what is happening to Elizabeth. That is why this picture stands out for me.

  57. The picture that stands out for me the most is the picture with the soilders outside of Central High. The reason that it stands out for me is because there are so many soilders outside of the high school. When you go to high school you are supposed to be happy that you are with your friends. Not terrorised of all the soilders with guns there. The picture with a perpitrator is the one where a white woman is yelling Elizabeth Eckford. She is a perpitrator because she is harming elizabeth by yelling at her. There are also white women next to her who are bystandards because they don't stand up for Elizabeth or tell the woman to stop. That same picture shows a victim because Elizabeth is the one being harmed. The picture with the NACP council are the upstandards because they were helping the Little Rock Nine along the way in Central.

what pops out at me is that these dunb white folks are harsh because of how they treat these black people.

  60. in my opinion the whites that are screaming at her are not only the perpitraters but also the bystanders because there not only causing the little rock nine a pain and saddness inside but there also not speaking up for them some can take a stand and help them just like daisy bates did but no instead there followers.in the pictiures what stands out the most is when the white lady that is screaming at elizabeth eckfore and also all the moms with anger faces.

  61. What stood out for me in the pictures is that there was a wall of soldiers trying to avoid the black students to get into Central High and there was another wall of students supposedly trying to help the students get in. I also notice that the white students are all bunched up outside the school doors. The victims are the black students who are integrating Central High. They were being attacked verbally and maybe even violently without them doing anything to the whites. The nine students are just trying to get an education, and don’t even have problem with the whites, they just want to learn. The perpetrators were all the whites that were attacking the black students. The whites were attacking the black students violently, verbally, and not letting the black students get into the school. The bystanders are all the Arkansas soldiers that Governor Faubus to protect the black students. Instead it looked as if Gov. Faubus had sent the soldiers to keep the black student out. There were absolutely no upstanders in these pictures because everybody who was not perpetrating or being a victim were just standing there watching the action.

  62. There's one picture that stands out for me which is the picture of Elizabeth Eckford because she's ignoring all the white people that are bullying and talking to her bad when she's not even doing nothing wrong. She's being a brave girl by ignoring and just keep walking. And not taking violence into her hands. They're bystanders here in the picture which are the National Guards because they are not doing anything about the whites shouting out stuff, they are just steady looking at them. without taking any actions or trying to stop what's happening. If i'm not wrong it's a big chance that the upstanders are the 101st airborne because if you really look at the picture they are looking out for the african american children that are getting in that vihicle. They are protecting them from any attacks.

From what I seen from the pages, the pictures that would stand me the most is the picture that would show the soldiers in the school protecting the Little Rock Nine. This would show me that they stand out because they would protect them so the angry white mob would not get in problems with the LR9. Without the soldiers, there would be more problems for the LR9 when the mob would run into them and chances of hurting them are high. The perpetrators of this is the angry white mob who are angry of the intergration of Central High. The victims would be the LR9 which were threatened too much by the angry white mob. The bystanders would be the Arkansas army, who would not do any good to protect them and mostly would be in side of the white people. The upstander of this would be President Eisenhower when he would send the federal army to control the angry mob when the LR9 would enter the school. Finally, this would connect to the Montgomery Bus Boycott. This would connect to that because both events would have to fight for like the LR9 would fight for integration when the boycott would fight for the right to sit anywhere they want.

  64. One thing that stood out to me was when Elizabeth Eckford was getting yelled at by the ladie behinder. The reason why was because that an example of a perpetrator a thing we the class of 2011. And because it looks bad when the ladie was yelling at her. There is a type and its a perpetrator. The perpetrator is the ladie that is yelling behind Elizabeth Eckford

  65. The picture stands out on me because its showin how bad they treted all of the blacks. Even though their wasnt a reason why they should treat them bad..Thats my opnion everyone is the same noone is different. And I think all of the people that are present their are bystanders because they dont stand out for their people. And i get why.

the book stands out to me because it shows how they were treated. it shows how others were bystander of not doing nothing. the pictures show how she fought for her rights.all the black community were upstander because they helped each other. when Elizabeth Eckford was yelled at it was she did not care because she knows she was doing right for herself.
