WhAT Link is doing,i think its a little hypocritical because when hes with his friends and hes one way and when hes with Melba.I think Link is confused because when Melba is around and his friends are there he protects her in some way in which his friends dont know and Melba still doesnt know if hes the real deal or not.

Since,Link feels torn between loyalty to his friends and family and guilt for what the black students are going through. He is the kind of person that tries to help in everything. Even if it's little help but he does something about it. Like for example he states that he's furious and dissappointed in the activites that Central High weren't going to have anymore and that Melba should try to do something about it. Then saying to Melba how to avoid the ones that were trying to get her(Beals 191). This shows he wants to help in whatever and wherever he can.

What this says about his character is that he is stuck between doing the right thing by helping Melba. Then he has to stay loyal to his family and friends because he does not want them to find out that he is helping one of the Little Rock Nine students. In the book Link is starting to think about how the school used to be it used to be ranked high and he is starting to change his opinion about letting people in the schoo (Beals 191) This is telling me that Link is thinking that maybe the segregationists are right to be against integration. The reason why its because he is complaining about how it has turned out.

  4. I think he is a person who can't make up his mind between what is wrong or right. He is one person in front of Melba and another with his friends and family. Link wants to help the eight negro students but he doesn't want to be separated from his people.(Beals 190-192)

  5. I think it says he’s confused on what he really believes. Does he support integration and thinks black people should be treated as equally as whites? Or does he believe there shouldn’t have been integration and thinks school would have been much better if things were the way it was before blacks came in? I think he supports the integration; just that he wishes the situation would’ve been handled differently in a way that all the junior and senior activities wouldn’t have been ruined. As Beals explains, “ This was a good school, ranked high on the national scale, and now our halls are filled with soldiers and people are treating us like criminals” (Beals page 191).

  6. I think that link is a person that is sensitive and loyalty with his friends and family and gets his heart torn easily. Link is a person that is kind and wants to help the eight black student going to Central High, but at the same time he doesnt want to be seperated from his kind of people and doesnt want to be treated like they black students are being treated.(Beals 190-192)

  7. I think that he is really nice and that he really cares about his other friends and for the 7 students that go to their white high school and that is what it says that he really thinks about his family and that he was race good. You can tell that he has noting bad or mean of the black people. So I think that if u think wrong about like is because you don’t really get his character in the story because he actually cares about his friends.

  8. This says that Link is really a sincere and helpful person because he really does feel like helping people but he can't because of what his family would do if they would find out. As Beals said, her mom & grandma thought that Link really did want to help her out by giving her this information, (Beals 185)

  9. This tells me that Link is a good person because he helps Melba and doesn’t want anything to happen. According to Beals in Warriors Don’t Cry “You can do a news interview saying we’re not such bad people and that everything is getting better at school. That way everybody in the world won’t think we’re all villains. (Beals, Warriors Don’t Cry Page 190).

Its shows that Link wants to do the right thing by doing the right thing to help Melba but he needs to be someone his not. "Link, you don’t want me to lie, do you?". It shows that he thinks that everything is going all wrong he just tries to get away by lying to him self

  11. What it says about this character is that he feels torn between loyalties to his friends and families because he probably thinks he’s be trading them and not telling his friends and family that he’s hanging out with melba.

“According to warriors don’t cry I am happy today but I am also frightened. The appointment of lemley means we have to pray hard. This is not supposed to happen in America. I mean segregation aren’t supposed to be able to have their own judge. I salute the flag every morning as I look at a picture on the homeroom wall directly in front of me.

  12. What it says about his character is that he cares."He was torn between his loyalty to his family and friends, and his sense of guilt and responsibility for what was happening to the eight of us".(Beals 186) This means hes got a conscience.

  13. Based on what I read this tells me about Link that he's like all those other segregationist. He's blaming the Little Rock Nine for all the canceling, but deep down he should know that the nine aren't doing anything to make this happen. The people who are causing this are the segregationist.

  14. i think that this says about his character that he feels confused.he doesnt know wheteher to get mad at melba and her ppl for ruinning his senior year.also because he feels in a way he betrayed his family and old friends to help malba and her ppl but at the time malba and her ppl made things worse for seniors."he was more angry than i'd ever heard him.this was a good school, ranked high on the naional scale, and how our halls are filled with soldier and ppl are treatring us like were criminals(beals191)"

I think he’s starting to regret all he has done for Melba but he wants to help Melba survive. Also he saying that since got to the school it had gotten bad (“this was a good school, ranked and now our halls are filled with soldiers and people treating us like we were criminals”).

  16. Link is confused on weather to go with his friends and families or to help out Melba and the other black students. (Beals 189) This shows that Link is a kid that can’t seem to make up his mind on weather to go and support what his family and friends believe in or on weather going with Melba and the black students. So it shows that he just can’t make up his mind about who to go with but it also shows that he is risk taker because he has his families’ reputation on the line and he is still helping these black students like Melba. It shows that he is brave since he is helping Melba and he knows the consequences’ that can happen if everybody finds out.

  18. I can understand why Link feels torn between loyalty to his friends and family and guilt for what the black students are enduring. I believe this says that he is just trying to be cool with everybody so he can stay alive because if he isn't cool with his friends and family, they might kill him and if he does not help the black kids he might suffer with the guilt. Link not only helps Melba avoid awful pranks, but trusts Melba enough to ask her to go meet his nana(Beals 196). I think that he is trying to stay alive, but at the same time he is one of those white people that actually care for the black people.

What this says about Links character is that he isn't sure if he wants to help Melba out by telling her information about what the white kids were planning to do to her. If he is torn between loyalty to his friends and guilt for what the black students are enduring then Melba shouldnt trust him for nothing because he might turn on her and set her up.

I my point of view I think Links character shows that he has nothing against them (African Americans) because he is telling Melba not to go that direction and wants to keep her safeso she does not geted harm.

  21. Well this says that he knows that what hes doing is good. Which is helping Melba, but he's starting to think that he's not being loyal to his friends and family. Its like hes 50 and 50. But what hes doing is good because Melba might have been in really serious problems but thanks to Link, she wasnt. Link told Melba everything that whites were planing to do to her and she was careful and nothing bad happened to her. Link is gaining Melbas trust.

What it say's about his character is that he feels like a traitor between his friends and melba.Because he hangs with his friends and talk about doing pranks on melba, even though he talks with her in the phone and talks about what they want to do."Hey,if I had't convinced those guys to leave ,they were gonna get you.And if you don't beleive I'm on your side, here's proof, listen up.Stay of the far end of the second floor tomorrow. And don't go to your lockerafter lunch "(Beals 184).So basically he does't want melba being mistreated and that's being honest.

What this tells about his character is that he is a very caring person and that he really likes to help people out even if he would get in big trouble whit a lot of people like his parents friends from central and probably he would get beat up to.

  25. It says that he isn’t like other black people. It shows that he has a heart and that he cares about people no matter what color their skin. It also shows that he wants to be loyal to his family because he does not want to disappoint them.

  27. well, he is a nice person because he helps melba get out of problems in school, but when he is with his friends he acts like a racist person

    ReplyDelete
  28. This says that he is a very caring person because he actually wants to help Melba and he is not racist like the other white people. He is really caring because he used to have an african-american nanny so he had an open mind about african-americans.

  29. In my opinion i think that link has good feelings and he knows that every person is the same .the color does not make a diferrence at all . he has feelings that he shouldnt doing anything because of his nana .

  30. I think that he seems that he doesn’t have the mind of the other white people. He is considerate of other than white people. He does think about other he doesn’t just follow along like the others.

It says that Link wants to be good to both sides. He doesn't want to loose his friends, but he doesn't want to hurt anyone even if they are black. He feels torn because his family wants him to go to these meetings so they can get the nine black kids. His friends also peer pressure him into beating them and calling them names, if he doesn't do that he would probably bring danger to himself and his family. If they catch him protecting the "niggers" they will harrass him and call him "nigger lover". He also doesn't want to hurt any black kid just because of the race, he also has a nana that he loves and if he did something to the other black kids it would be like betraying his nana. According to Warriors don't cry, "My nanny, she's colored-like you. He had often spoken of her, but this was the first time he told me she was not white." (Beals 191). Link says he is torn between the two and that his father isn't for hitting somebody's black child, but he doesnt like race mixing either ( Beals ch 15-16).

This charecter shows that he realy cares for these people. He has feeling not like the others. He feels bad for them, for what they have to suffer and nobody tries to even help them.He decides to give them a hand, taking a big risk on him.He was risking his life."Melba, the blond boy whispered my name, listen to me.I'm gonna call you niger-loud.I'm gonna curse at you,but i'm gonna put mykeys on the trunkof this car.Get out of here now.My name is Link,i'll call you later"(Beals 172).

  33. This says that Link really cares about Melba but also about his friends and family. He feels bad that thw hites kids treat the black kids bad so he tries to help out Melba although he knowa hes backstabing his friends.
